Villion:Code Gets Release Date, Earlier Than Expected

Last month, Idea Factory International hit us with an announcement trailer for a brand new action RPG created by Cozy Okada. With a release time frame of sometime 2027, I was expecting to not get more information of a release date til later in the year or even til next year. Idea Factory International is excited to announce that the action RPG Villion:Code, will be launching physically and digitally in North America and Europe on JANUARY 26, 2027. The game will be available digitally for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch™ , Nintendo Switch™2, and Steam®, with Standard Editions available for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch in North America and PS5 for Europe.

Excited to talk about the game more, Cozy Okada had an interview with the team over at Noisy Pixel. One of my favorite sections of the interview is the team asking Cozy Okada about the changes that JRPGs have gone through in modern times.

“When I look at modern JRPGs, I think it is a positive trend that they continue to embrace uniquely Japanese elements through their characters, settings, and worldbuilding.

At the same time, as gaming has become more casual and accessible, I feel that the experience of sitting down, taking time to think, and becoming deeply immersed in a story has become less common in our increasingly busy lives. With this game, I would like players to rediscover that kind of experience and take the time to fully engage with its world and themes.”

The Digital Standard Edition, as well as the Digital Deluxe Edition for the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam, will be available for wishlist at a later date.

The Digital Deluxe Edition will include:

• Digital game
• Digital Art Book (124 pages, includes illustration by character designer, Ilya Kuvshinov and the Short Story Collection written by Scenario Writer, Tadashi Satomi)
• Digital Soundtrack (27 tracks, music composed by Tsukasa Masuko)

Villion:Code will be released on January 27th, 2027 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can buy the game physically on the Idea Factory International website.
